Tables, Table Linens and Place Settings
Be sure to ask your event venue manager about all of the fees! Some venues may include banquet tables, guest tables, and chairs in their rental fee, and some may charge a fee for providing those, with an additional fee for setting them up and taking them down.
Event Tables
Tables used for special event catering are typically Banquet tables, Round tables and/or Cocktail Leaners, also known as Highboys.
Banquet (or Rectangular) Catering Tables
These are typically used for buffets, beverage stations and sometimes for seating. They are rectangular-shaped, come in various lengths and are the most used, with the most common sizes being in lengths of 6 feet and 8 feet. Be sure to ask what size will be used so your table linens will adequately cover the table. Example of terminology…. An 8-foot (‘) table is commonly called an 8’ Banquet table. Round Catering Tables
Larger round tables are often used for guest seating, while the smaller ones can be used for dessert tables, wedding cake tables, chocolate fountain tables, and other uses. They are called “rounds” and sizes are described by their diameter in inches (“) so a 60″ round table is called a 60″ round. The most common rental table sizes for round tables are 48″, 60″ and 72”. Cocktail Leaners or Highboys
These are great for when you want guests to mix and mingle at a cocktail party and to supplement guest seating already being used. They are taller than ordinary tables and designed so guests can stand around them. Though they do not require chairs, rental chairs are available for them. When you rent these tables, most people plan for their guests to “rest” their food and drink on the table while eating. If these types of tables are used, we recommend that the menu items selected be one to two-bite items. Ask us and we’ll be glad to help you design your special event. Table Linens
Table linens may also be included in your venue rental or they may be an additional charge. Some event venues don’t provide them but your caterer might. They come in a myriad of sizes and colors and different tables require different sizes. The length of the table linens you want also determines the size you will need.
